OPTIONAL COMMENTARY: This is one of those inside jokes that isn't actually an inside joke. There is absolutely nothing inside about this, other than Rongi was a guy I knew on a message board. I think he offhandedly mentioned that he was cooking in one thread and I made it the basis for a comic. The simplistic approach as to what a message board entails was based on my mom, when I was trying to explain what a message board exactly was to her. "Oh, so it's a place online where you go and write 'I agree!' or 'I don't agree with that...'" was how my mom understood it. Oh Rongi. Rongi, if you are reading this, get in touch.
